“Clayton, when are you getting ordained?” Professor 1 excitedly asked me after I led morning prayer this past Tuesday.
“Last weekend,” I replied.
Professor 2 interjected, pointing at my torn jeans and teeshirt.”What, you can’t tell?”
“Oh, he’ll just be sleeping in his collar,” finished off Professor 1.
We then went on to have one of those conversations that only seminary students and professors could have. If a pregnant woman is ordained, does the baby receive the so-called “ontological change”? It was very goofy and one of those conversations that was funny, but made me feel like a complete dork for understanding it and participating in it.
People keep asking me how it feels to be ordained. It mostly feels weird.
