udder.jpgWe got good milk.

Cheap food is good food, and we try our hardest to get it. That means getting Fruit Spins instead of Fruit Loops, Thirst Quencher instead of Gatorade, and Imitation Chocolate Powder instead of Nesquik. Actually, we don’t buy any of those products, but you get the idea.

However, price was not the only factor in our latest food shopping outing. (Yes, we did save about 3 cents per half gallon.) This time we were in it for the adventure! Hopping onto our horses (which strangely resembled a 1994 Toyota Camry) we galloped into the countryside where we came along a little farm nestled into the green hills. We knew we were at the right spot when we smelled manure and saw the red barn doors. Hitching up the horses we strode through those doors into the small room lined with glass sliding doors. Every good cow product was before our eyes: fresh cheeses, sausage, ice cream, and every milk you can imagine (from skim to cream, and buttermilk to orange & strawberry). We were just there for the milk. And not just ANY milk in a lame plastic container, but fresh from the udder in glass bottles! Yes, quality can still be found in modern American times.

So now we are part of a “Milk Co-Op” in Ambridge, dedicated to only the finest milk in glass bottles from this little piece of heaven. If you live in the area and want to be a part of this, let us know! Get fresh milk and only drive out to get it once every 2 months!
