Actually, cutting your own Christmas tree isn’t really a “chop, chop” affair. It’s more of a 3-10 second “saw, saw” gig. We chose the Saturday after Thanksgiving to saw our tree. This year, the weekend after Thanksgiving was like a good spring day, with temperatures in the 70s and the sun beating down. Walking around campus today I noticed the trees have begun to bud and flower again; they can’t be blammed for their confusion. My sister Sarah was in town and we chose to do this family tradition of decorating and putting up the tree after Thanksgiving. This little Christmas tree farm was cool and bizzare. It’s a little family-owned place which serves hot cider and lets you peruse the holiday giftshop. And it is in the middle of a brand new subdivision. Maybe they hadn’t had a good tree season and had to sell off land to developers or something. Who knows. It just added to the oddity of the weather that day.
Our tree is 7′ exactly. You saw it. They shake it. They bag it. You stick it in the trunk. Voila. Christmas tree, Christmas tree, how I love you.
